Gear

All of Squirrel’s exercises can be done without any special equipment. But this starter set of gear helps you most of your workout!

Exercise Bands

small exercise bands and loops for hip and leg exercises.
large set of exercise bands for home fitness.

These two sets of resistance bands make it easy to replicate things like pull-ups and rows. They also make a great substitute for dumbbells in most exercises!

The smaller Resistance Loops (~$10) are great for hip mobility movements, and the larger Exercise Bands (~$25 to $40) are for larger movements.

Dumbbells

A small set of starter dumbbells is a great way to add weight to your movements for faster results. Even a couple of 3-pound weights can make a huge difference.

Other sets are available with 5/8/10 pounds, with or without the rack, and in different colors. We like the neoprene coated ones because they won’t scratch floors and are easier to grip.

Yoga Mat

gorilla mats oversized yoga mat for stretching and exercise.

A soft, cushy, non-slip mat is the perfect accessory for home exercise, and it doubles as a great place to foam roll and stretch before bed, too!

We like this giant Gorilla Mats 6′ x 4′ version because it’s held up to years of use (we’ve had one since 2019!).

eco-friendly thick yoga mat for home fitness and exercise.

We also looooove this Retrospec Solana 6′ x 2′ extra thick mat – it’s soft, grippy, and free of any Phthalates, heavy metals, and latex.

Foam Rollers

soft beginner foam roller for people new to exercise and recovery massage.
rollga curved foam roller for targeted pressure and deep tissue massage.
trigger point therapy travel foam roller with hollow center.

These are totally optional, buuuuuut… once you try one, whoa! You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!

SOFT: If you’re new to foam rolling, start with a soft, low-density 18″ roller (like the one on the left). Trust us, you don’t want to start with a firm roller!

CURVY: Once you’re used to foam rolling, you’ll enjoy the increased pressure of a firmer roller. We loooove the Rollga (center) because it’s grooves help massage our lumbar, get between the shoulder blades, and deeper into our quads. Just remember to breathe!

TRAVEL: For real, once you get used to it, you’ll wanna bring a roller with you, and the hollow TriggerPoint Grid foam roller goes with us ev-er-y-where. Stuff clothes in it and it takes up virtually no space in your bag!

These are our favorites, but anything similar will work. And remember, you don’t need any of this to get started with Squirrel!
