Hip Dips

animated person showing how to do the hip dips exercise.

This combo core exercise works your abs and obliques, helping you stabilize your core through the day’s twists and turns.

HOW TO DO IT:

  • Start in a plank position on hands and toes
  • Drop down to your elbows
  • Slowly lean and rotate your hips to the right, bringing them as close to the ground as you can
  • Return to center, then dip your left hip
  • Repeat

MAKE IT COUNT:

  • Really lean into it then pull those hips back to center!
  • Keep going until you can’t possibly do another rep

MAKE IT EASIER:

  • Just lean a little bit rather than dipping all the way to the ground
  • Instead of dipping, slowly alternate tapping each knee to the ground

MAKE IT HARDER:

  • Go slower
  • Do a second set

MAKE IT FUN:

  • Share this with a friend so you have a workout buddy!

PRACTICAL USES:

  • Carrying uneven loads
  • Dipping your partner for a romantic kiss
  • Smashing that Pickleball
  • Vacuuming, mopping & raking…oh boy!
  • Doing the Truffle Shuffle
  • Shakin’ that money maker
  • Twerkin’
